Winter RETREAT Details

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
On this retreat, we want to help you to experience fun, faith, and fellowship! We will have two large group "club" meetings where an inspirational speaker will help us to learn more about Jesus, as well as time for three Harvesters fellowship meetings with other students from our school where we can grow closer to God and to each other. There will also be cabin time to talk about life, plus a boys basketball tournament, a girls volleyball tournament, and a coed ping pong tournament! In addition, we will have plenty of free time to play in the gym and game room, slide down the zip line, and ride the giant swing. It will be one of the great weekends of your life!

Watch the video made by PJ Om below to get a preview of what we did at the Winter Retreat/Getaway in 2018... and what we will do in 2019! (Please note: skiing/snowboarding will NOT be offered on the Harvesters Retreat.)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Make sure you bring the following so you can have a great time at the retreat:

  • Flip flops/sandals
  • Athletic clothes for the gym
  • Sneakers for the gym
  • Additional sneakers or boots in case your shoes get wet

  • Animal onesie (if you have one)
TOILETRIES
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Shampoo
  • Contact lenses and solution
MISCELLANEOUS
  • Bible, notebook, and pen/pencil
  • Prescribed medicine (if applicable)
  • $50+ for spending money at the camp store and snack bar
You do NOT have to bring bed linens, pillows, or a sleeping bag.

HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I BRING?
You will need to bring spending money for food on the way to Lake Champion on Friday night. We recommend you bring $50 extra to cover this food stop as well as spending money for the camp snack bar and camp gift shop. Please note: The camp snack bar and gift shop accept MasterCard and Visa as well as cash.

HOW CAN I SELECT MY PING PONG PARTNER?
Every year at the Winter Retreat/Getaway, almost everyone participates in our Doubles Ping Pong Tournament. It’s all for fun, so don’t worry if you are not that good at ping pong. We will start selecting partners soon at aylpingpong.com. You can see a list of everyone going by clicking here.

HOW DO I OBTAIN AN ANIMAL ONESIE?
It has become a tradition for many Winter Retreat/Getaway participants to wear an "animal onesie" (kigurumi) while skiing/snowboarding. This is totally optional and is NOT required, but if you are interested in continuing this tradition, please go to aylpingpong.com (COMING SOON!), where you can select an animal onesie and complete other important information.

WHO ELSE IS GOING?
Check out our Facebook Event Page to see who else is going or to invite any of your friends.

WHAT ABOUT SAFETY AND SUPERVISION?
Parents, we want your child to have an amazing but safe experience. Supervision at the Retreat/Getaway includes local adult leaders who also work as local public school teachers. The overall ratio of adult supervision to teens is 1:10.  Male and female housing at the camp is clearly defined, separated, and chaperoned. Students are closely monitored at all times. In addition, a fully licensed EMT will be with us at all times.

WHERE IS THE WINTER RETREAT, AND HOW WILL WE GET THERE?
We will be staying overnight at Young Life's Lake Champion, located at 247 Mohican Lake Rd. in Glen Spey, NY 12737.  The camp’s phone number is (845) 856-6871. We will be going to the retreat in minivans driven by responsible Asian Young Life leaders.

HOW MANY SPOTS ARE LEFT?
As of January 8, we have 12 spots (out of 12) remaining. Go to our Facebook Event Page to see who is already registered.
