Every summer Asian Young Life takes about a dozen teenagers to help out at Capernaum camp, a special place in Virginia for young people with disabilities.
Our volunteers from Asian Young Life serve as "buddies" to the young people with special needs in the hope of giving these Capernaum campers the "best week of their life." Our Asian Young Life teens assist the Capernaum campers in getting around camp, participating in camp activities, and basically just helping in anyway possible so that the Capernaum campers can overcome obstacles, grow in confidence, and experience life to the full. The days can be long (Expect to work 12+ hours each day!), and you will have to become "comfortable being uncomfortable," but once you get the hang of it, you may go home more blessed than the people you are serving. In fact, many of our volunteers say that helping out at Capernaum camp was the best week of their life.
At the conclusion of your week, Asian Young Life will credit and certify you with 50 hours of community service. We just ask that you work hard at the camp and that you serve the Capernaum campers to the best of your ability.
