Academies @ Englewood Campaigners

Are you a student at the Academies at Englewood who wants to learn more about the Christian faith with classmates and alumni from your school? If so, then you should join our AE Campaigners group!

Campaigners is the name of our Bible study for students who attend the Academies at Englewood and Dwight Morrow High School. We actually have TWO options for you...

Every Tuesday morning when school is in session, students meet in Room 543 for what we call "Morning Campaigners." There will usually be doughnuts and orange juice, but the highlight of the morning is definitely when one of the AE students leads a brief lesson on what he or she has learned from reading the Bible. There wil be a quick prayer and some announcements, and then everyone is off to 1st period class. The whole meeting takes place from 7:29 to 7:55 AM. It's a great way to start your day!

Throughout the year we also get together two times a month on Saturday nights to talk about life, who God is, and how He fits into everything. If you want to know more about what it means to be a Christian, we talk about that also. At each Saturday Night Campaigners meeting, we usually sing some songs, explore the Bible, spend some time praying for the school and for each other, and we break up into small groups to talk about how we're doing with everything. Afterwards, we might go out to eat or do some other fun stuff together. These meetings are led by the adult AYL leaders assigned to work with the Academies @ Englewood and take place at East Bergen Christian Church in Teaneck from 7:29 to 9:00 PM.
Both meetings are open to any student at the Academies at Englewood or Dwight Morrow High School who wants to learn more about the Christian faith and what the Bible has to say about life. Although the meetings are clearly Christian in content, you don't have to be a Christian to participate. This is because we don't pressure people to believe anything they don't want to believe nor do we try to push an agenda on anyone. What we offer instead is an opportunity for DMAE students — both Christians and non-Christians — to engage in open discussion and honest inquiry with their Young Life leaders and with one another to make sense of some of our world's more complicated issues and to begin to understand how life was meant to be.
We also have ocassional "Campaigners Excursions" to fun places as well as other special events like an annual Christmas party and a "Senior Send-Off," and we help out in a variety of community service projects too. So bring your questions, opinions, and an open mind. AE Campaigners is a great place for you to be.

"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." - Hebrews 10:24-25

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."  - 1 Timothy 4:12
