Asian Young Life desperately needs more adult leaders, especially female leaders. Since you are viewing this web page, we hope you are already interested in joining our leadership team!
Asian Young Life is a relational ministry in which leaders are the key to everything we do. We feel the most successful method of Christian discipleship is that of a mentor who walks alongside a younger friend and helps him or her to deal with the challenges of life. In Asian Young Life we call this incarnational ministry, the idea that Christians should personify Jesus Christ in their everyday tasks. In a practical sense, this means that an Asian Young Life leader is expected to live out his or her faith while interacting with Asian American teenagers, serving as a role model who helps students to not only learn what it means to live life as a Christian but to also see it lived out on a daily basis. When a teenager says that he "sees Christ" in his leader, we consider that one of the highest compliments one could ever receive.
We know that for many adults the expectation to spend time socially with teenagers can be very intimidating, especially if it's been quite some time since you last hung out at a shopping mall with high school students. But don't worry... We'll train you to become an expert in youth culture and help you to become an exemplary model of God's love so that you can guide Asian young people in growing spiritually, socially, intellectually, and emotionally.
We're looking for adults of any age... college students, working professionals, single people, married couples, anyone! We also hope that you can drive a car (It's important!). Here's a partial list of additional qualifications that we require for potential leaders.
An Asian Young Life volunteer leader...
- Submits to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his or her life.
- Is a mature Christian who is growing in his or her faith.
- Loves teenagers and has a special burden for Asian American adolescents.
- Attends church regularly.
- Is teachable and willing to learn.
Does this describe you? If so, then we would love to have you on our team! Apply now
Jim Rayburn, the founder of Young Life, eloquently expressed the need for adult leaders when he said:
We hope that you will help us to "bridge this tragic and terrible gap" that exists between teenagers and adults. Trust us, your life will be richly blessed as you go about making an eternal difference in the lives of Asian American teenagers. In fact, it's not uncommon for leaders to say that they get
more out of being a leader than what they give

Below are inspiring videos made by Young Life that feature the testimonies of two adults who have found immense joy and a sense of purpose by serving as Young Life leaders. Although the adults in the videos are not from Asian Young Life, we can attest that the sentiments expressed are shared by all of us who work in this life-changing mission. Please watch the videos and imagine yourself one day also telling stories of how God used you to impact the lives of teenagers.
In Asian Young Life we encourage you to do something significant with your life. Join us. You'll be glad you did!
